What is Paintball?

PAINTBALL is a high action team sport consisting of players shooting gelatin capsules filled with water soluble, biodegradable, non-toxic, paint at each other while trying to obtain an objective. When a player is hit with a paintball that breaks on his body or equipment he is marked out. Most private games run 10 minutes so the player is out until the next game starts. The most basic game consists of two teams trying to eliminate the other team by marking all of the opposing team members out. The next most popular game is Capture the Flag where both teams are trying to grab a flag in the middle of the playing field and return it to their starting point which wins the game.

Performance Paintball Park is proud to offer two completely different playing fields. We have an outdoor field developed for recreational players in mind. It is very large in size and features large Hyper Pipe bunkers in various configuration and a large castle. The indoor field was designed with the tournament player in mind. With it's asto turf, air ball bunkers and point match game format, this field has quickly become a favorite for private parties and tournament teams.

Most players use a semi-auto paintball marker that shoots a paintball every time that they pull the trigger. Performance Paintball Park rents the Smart Parts Ion electro-pneumatic semi-auto markers for the new player's use for $20 for the day. The rental also includes all the necessary high pressure to power the marker and a set of safety approved JT Elite goggles attached to a full face mask that covers the face, chin, ears, and of course your eyes. All markers come with a barrel cover that slides over the end of the marker barrel for when the marker is not in use so you cannot accidentally shoot a paintball out of the marker. We also offer neoprene neck protectors as well as front and back chest protectors and Redz 2 pod harnesses for players who wish to carry additional paintballs.

All private groups are run by safety certified refs and you will be given a thorough safety briefing before you start playing. The same applies to tournaments held at Performance Paintball Park. Players should wear old clothes, preferably loose for ease in running and moving. Most players like to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants for protection of the legs and arms against scratches and paintball hits. Players should also wear comfortable shoes or boots that are good for running and moving about. Something with ankle support is a good idea. A baseball style cap or head cover is preferred by many players to cover the top of the head.

The average new player will shoot approximately 500 paintball's in a private group for the day. In more advanced walk on games, the average new player will shoot 1000 paintball's per day of play. Pricing of Paintball's is listed on our pricing page.

Performance Paintball Park does stock Sodas, Water and Gatorade, chips and candy bars. There are also many restaurants and pizza places within a few miles of the Paintball Park.

Who is Performance Paintball?

Performance Paintball opened in 2001 by former professional paintball player, Chris Martello of "Sonic Rage" and "Lockout" fame. He has been playing tournament paintball and training players for almost two decades. Chris saw a need in the Rochester Area for a true paintball pro shop which specialized in repairs of all makes and models of paintball markers, air systems and hoppers. Also a pro shop was needed to offer customers low cost yet high quality paintballs and products. This business philosophy has developed Performance Paintball into the largest full service paintball complex in Upstate New York.

With the experience that Chris has gained from playing tournaments and studying paintball fields, he knew exactly what was needed; a new local paintball park, which would cater to tournament players as well as scenario and recreational players and at the same time keeping it very affordable. There are currently two paintball fields at Performance Paintball Park. The outdoor field features a 1 acre, grass covered playing surface, with huge hyper pipe bunkers to hide behind and a giant two story castle. The field is reconfigured bi-weekly to challenge even the best paintball players.

This year he added a new affordable indoor paintball field, featuring astro turf, air ball bunkers, an elevated staging and viewing area, electronic scoring and a new paintball playing format to keep you on the field longer and get your heart pumping. The field is well lit and heated to a comfortable 70 degrees. There is never a bad view, so be sure to bring your photo cameras and video cameras for memories, which are sure to last a life time.

Performance Paintball Park outdoor field is open every Sunday afternoon from Noon till 3 pm. Come on out with your own gear and join in on a game with players of the same skill level.
